The Bissell 9595a upright vacuum with Onepass technology has been among our top 2 picks among budget-friendly full upright models for almost a year now. This month’s review update finds it at the very top.
The best thing about it is the features & quality vs. price tag ratio. It comes packed with features and power matched only by models that cost 2 to 4 times more (as you’ll see in the video comparison to the Shark Rotator that costs about twice as much – just after the ratings).
Top in “value for money” among corded models
Its rating in the category of “value for money” is an unparalleled 9.6 out of 10, making it the best value on the market among full upright models.

OnePass CleanView Bissell 9595a review, section 2 – Main Features
Review of the One Pass CleanVIew technology
The most important feature that makes this Bissell special is its innovative One Pass technology. It’s not one patented feature, but a name that Bissell choose for how the different parts of the CleanView work together to make the one pass vacuuming possible. It’s a combo of the power of the motor to its multi-cyclonic action and the brushes that are designed to pick up dust and debris in one pass.
The suction is powerful enough for the vacuum to really do the trick in OnePass, we’ve seen it in action, it’s not just a marketing lingo (which is not uncommon in this price range).
Large Dust Tank
With its large and easy to empty 2.2 Liter tank you will never have to worry about it filling up too quickly or getting dirty while emptying the tank.
The filtration system
The filter is easy to care for, washable foam filter, excellent for households with pets or people suffering from allergies. The rotating brush picks up the hair and dust particles quickly and efficiently which then pass through the multi-level filtration system and into the tank preventing allergens from circulating back out.
Section 3 of the review– main PROs and CONs:
- Budget friendly. Lower price with a quality comparative to higher end cleaners
- Excellent pick up power (dust, hidden dirt, pet hair…)
- Easy to empty, no additional cost spent on disposable bags
- Upright design makes it easy to store away without taking up too much space
- Low noise levels. Suitable for apartments or a household with small children.
- Excellent after-service
- 2 year warranty
- Despite not having the swivel motion, it does not lack in speed and mobility and should not compromise the cleaning experience.
- The rotating brush can’t be turned off
- Not suitable for hardwood floors due to the brush being always on. Customers report that bigger dirt particles would fly off at a fast speed and scatter around making cleaning inefficient. If you have a hardwood floors – take a look at our pick here – the full review of the Hoover FloorMate Deluxe.
- The belt that rotates the brush would sometimes slip off after a longer period of use
- Hose too short to clean high ceiling spaces
Bissell 9595a OnePass review, section 4 – frequently asked questions
Does it work well on hardwood surfaces?
It does, but not as well as dedicated hard floor vacuum would. The rotating brush is on at all times and it makes it difficult to pick up bigger specks of dirt. In the review of the Bissell 9595a CleanView vacuum with OnePass technology we mention the issue – the brush scatters the dirt and dust backwards and not a lot ends up in the tank itself but it does have adjustable height which might help clean the wooden surfaces better.
Is it good for use on carpets?
Both our testing and reports we got from the review of the Bissell 9595a CleanView upright OnePass vacuum suggest the same – it works on well on carpets, especially low those of low and medium thickness.
Can the Bissell 9595a be used on tile floors, without scratching or damaging it?
Yes. The brush is soft enough to clean any surface without doing any damage.
How durable is the Bissell One Pass?
Depending on the frequency of use and proper care. If not used roughly and stored away properly it should last a long time.

Is it light weight?
Yes, at only 15.5 lbs it’s very lightweight and easy to maneuver.
What is the hose length?
The hose is 40″ long when in its natural coiled state. It stretches to 7′ long without attachments. The extension and crevice tool will add another 22″ to the length. It is fine for general cleaning along baseboards and such but not long enough to go up or down a flight of stairs without moving the machine along with you.
What we’ve see in Bissell 9595a vacuum with OnePass reviews
We haven’t seen a significant number of reports about the hose breaking within the warranty (common in this price range) in the reviews of Bissell 9595a CleanView vacuum with OnePass technology.
That goes for our in-house testing and the reports from our featured testers.

Is the Bissell OnePass 9595a any good with long dog hair?
Yes, it works pretty well. The strong suction power works in combination with the rotating brush to pull and draw out any type of animal hair. It also comes with an attachment brush suitable to use on furniture where the pet might have shed (couch, dog bed etc.)
Does the roller brush stop spinning when the attachments are being used?
Yes. The vacuum does not have an ON/OFF button feature for the rotating brush so it stays on as long as the cleaner is on.
Does it come attachments to clean a car?
Yes it does. It comes with a nozzle convenient to use on tight spaces like the car floor, under the car seat and in between the car seats. It is however, somewhat bulky to maneuver around a car for thorough cleaning and there are smaller and handier bissel models. If a car vacuum is what you need, take a look at our guide on best car vacuum cleaners.
Will I have to replace the filters at some point?
Yes, only one. The HEPA filter is disposable and it should be replaced every 6 months to a year. Everything we’ve see in the reviews of the 9595a Bissell upright, indicates that the quality of the Hepa filter is similar to that of much more expensive models.

By pressing the handle release lever once recline the handle, press it a second time to allow it to lay almost flat. Depending on the height of the bed this unit may or may not fit but using a different attachment might help.
What is the length of the cord?
It is 25 feet, other customers have reported that it was not quite long enough and would have to move frequently from outlet to outlet. It also depends on the size of the space, it would probably be enough for an apartment or a bigger bedroom.
Is the Bissell CleanView OnePass suitable for shag carpets?
Even though the height can be adjusted it is not recommended to use on shag rugs due to the risk of the carpet fabric getting rolled and stuck onto the brush and in turn clogging up the cleaner.
How often do the filters need to be cleaned?
It is recommended to clean the pre-motor filter after every other use (some people clean it after every use) and to replace the HEPA filter after 6 months to a year depending on the use. All filters and replacement parts are widely available.
